Materials Needed for Plastic Bag Holder Pattern

- Scrap fabric or fat quarter
- 1/4″ Elastic
- Quilter Ruler
- Iron

Plastic Bag Holder Pattern

- Cut your fabric 18×21″
- On the 18″ sides fold over right sides of fabric to wrong sides 3/4″, iron and place pins or clips to hold in place
- When finished with the step above, go ahead and sew your fabric 1/2″ making sure you backstick at the beginning and end on both sides (this will become your elastic opening on 1 end)
- Fold your fabric lengthwise and clip or pin. Sew your piece 1/4″ but stop at the bottom before your seam. (This is so you can add your elastic)
- Cut an elastic piece 7″. Place a safety pin on one end and place it through the opening. Make sure and pin or clip the end leaving a little out of your opening. Clip your other side when your get through your casing.
- Finish sewing your casing using the 1/4″ seam allowance. Make sure and backstich over your elastic to ensure it stays in place.
- Cut a ribbon or create a loop (shown in video in tutorial) and attach to the lenghtwise seam.
- Your plastic bag holder pattern is finished and can easily be use in your pantry or closet. It’s great for plastic bags or trashbags. These also sell really well at craft shows or sell on Facebook marketplace.
