Fabrics Needed for Scrap fabric Quilt Block

I found adorable fabric from Fat Quarter Shop. You will find the sizes to cut below. If you have a ton of scrap fabrics that would go well together, grab those and use them. For a baby quilt, you need 4-5 blocks for 1 row and 6 rows plus a border and binding.
- Top fabric: 1 – 2.5″ square, and 8 – 1.5″ x 2.5″ rectangles
- Middle Fabric: 4 – 2.5″ squares, and 8 – 1.5″ x 3.5″ rectangles
- Blue fabric on bottom left: 8 – 2.5″ squares
- Green bottom right fabric: 8 – 1.5″ squares
Sew Unit #1

Lay out two of your fabric #1 which is 1.5″ x 2.5″ rectangles, one dark green fabric that is your 1.5″ square, and one blue fabric (bottom left) 2.5″ square as shown in the picture above.
First sew the patches together in two rows and press the seam allowances toward the pink fabric you see above.
Next, sew the two rows together. Press the seam allowances. I’ve pressed using the twirl/tweak/furl method, but you can press however you wish.
You will need a total of 4 of these units so go ahead and make 3 more.
Sew Unit #2

You want to lay out your next fabrics and then go ahead and sew them into 2 rows (top and bottom). Press your seam allowances towards the lighter fabrics.
Just like before, you need 4 units so keep going and and finish 3 more.
Middle Unit

This is an easy block to finish for your scrap fabric quilt block. This is the last section of sewing. You need a total of 4 again so go ahead and finish all 4.
Assemble Your Quilt block

You can see the layout above. You can play with this layout and create a completely differently looking quilt. To create this scrap fabric quilt block, follow the instructions above.
Sew each row and then press your seam allowances going in opposite directions for each row.
When you have your rows finished, go ahead and sew your rows together and finish your quilt block.
