Fabrics Needed For Half Squares Triangles Quilt Block

To create this 10-in Quilt Block, you will need eight Cream or white Fabrics that measure 3.5 inches squared. You will also want to find eight fabric varieties that coordinate with your cream or white fabric. I love this Fat Quarter bundle
You will also cut your eight Fabrics 3.5 in squared.
Sew Your Quilt Block
Use your rotary cutter and your ruler to cut each of your blocks in half. From here on out you will sew a quarter inch seam allowance for all of your seams.
Create Half Squares Triangle Blocks

Go ahead and take one of your cream colored and one of your other fabrics and sew them together to make a square. You will just continue to do this mixing a cream/white fabric with one of your other Fabrics. You should have 16 total half Square triangles when you are finished.
Create Your Blocks

Now you want to take four of your squares and create a block. Make sure that you mix and match so that you don’t have to of the same pattern.
You can change around the blocks and it will absolutely create a totally different looking quilt. My suggestion is to lay out all your squares and just find the pattern that you like the most.
Assemble Your Quilt Block

Now you want to create one large Quilt Block. As you can see, I chose to put my colored Fabric in the center. However, if you change it around, it looks like a totally different quilt. I would simply play around with my layout until I found the one that I really loved.
You want to sew each row and press your seams in One Direction and then alternate in the second row a different direction. And you’ll just keep repeating that pattern again and again.
Once you finish all of your rows then you’ll sew your rows together starting at the top and sewing the second one to it so on and so on. You do want to press your seams going all One Direction.
Congrats you finished your half squares triangles quick block. You can easily put it in a frame or put a binding around it after you have placed a back and batting and hang it up or even use it as a table runner.
I love to use these quilt blocks as a large pot holder. I simply add three squares of quilt batting and finish it off.
If you’re going to make the baby quilt pattern below, then you’re going to want to make 30 blocks. You also need fabric for backing, binding and quilt batting.
